My sondcard has supposedly stopped working, i cannot use Windows media player although the Microsoft start up sound plys, how do i navigater to device manager and use it to check out the sound card please?

Press windows key and pause together..this should bring up system properties.

Click on the Hardware tab,then Device Manager.

There you can check to see if the driver is installed correctly...Otherwise if you know what your soundcard is just reinstall the driver :/

What's Windows key and "pause" ?

Failing that, right click on "My Computer" , choose "Properties" and under the "Hardware" tab there's a button that says device manager.

Or, if you're really lazy, click Start, Run and type
devmgmt.msc
Ah, right... the "Pause. Break" button near the numberpad.

Further to my previous question, i have discovered that i have a missingaudio codec, that when downloaded puts thingds right, however, when i turn off and then re booy computer , the same problem returns , only resolved by re downloading codec. I have tried un and re installing Windows media player but this does not help, thanks anyone able to help.
