I went in yesterday and bought a few shirts at reduced prices. The thought struck me that all the shoppers, including myself, were like vultures.
A bit harsh or not?

All I noticed when I looked in the Norwich BHS last week was that, despite reductions of either 30% or 50%, their shirts were still far dearer than similar products in Primark, Store Twenty One or George at Asda.

I also notice that they were selling off their grocery lines with a 30% reduction, reducing the price of a 1kg bag of sugar from £1 to 70p, when it's only 45p in Poundstretcher!

Unsurprisingly, despite there being plenty of people looking around, I didn't see a single person actually buy anything.

Thank heavens they've finally gone out of business - about twenty years too late in my opinion!
let's just say you haven't helped yourself to as much of BHS as Sir Philip Green did, sandyRoe. You could have had the whole business for a quid.
lol jno !
the only people Mr Alba saw when he walked past the Glasgow branch yesterday were the staff.
The 40% off and 50% off signs didn't seem to attract a lot of folk, but it is a local holiday here.
Someone's got to buy the stuff, or it'll get thrown away. Unless they ship it all to charities.
Unsold stock, fixtures and fittings will be crated on to pallets and sold at a blind auction - that's how a lot of pound shops get their stock.
You're not vultures for getting a bargain - if it was a bargain.
It's always been a terrible shop.
I feel sorry for the staff, but it's way past time it went. I hope they are offered employment at Green's other shops, at least.
We found BHS good for young girls' bridesmaids dresses, lighting and shorts and tshirts in February. The towels and beddings weren't bad either
No not harsh sandy, the stuff had to be sold. I didn't frequent BHS much, but when I walked past the empty store earlier today, I felt quite sad!
I quite liked BHS.
I liked the Christmas shop.
Ours is closed, I'll give Phil the Deknighted a pound for his Boscawen Street property....
and the local caffs are pleased as there was a bit of a breakfast price war going on between them and Wetherspoon's.
Just another closing down sale!!
I went into a BHS the other day, and left empty handed.
I went in today and I, too, left empty handed. Just dross left now. Acrylic and polyester.
I went in a month ago to get a new bikini. They had a couple of racks of bottoms but no tops to match - I asked the assistant and she said all the tops were sold last year and only the bottoms were left. Odd, I've not heard of bottomless bathing :-)
you haven't been to Greece diving then, Prudie.....
I saw Sir Green and Lady Green in Monaco last year.
Their driver parked a beautiful Bentley conevertable at end of red carpet by large chrome and black boat. They boarded , the garage door at back of boat closed and it left port for a Sunday afternoon cruise.
They could have parked car in boat garage at back it was so large.

I had a job at BHS when I was 16 in 1979.
I figured it would be fun to get a summer job before returning to sixth form at school. They stuck me in the stock room and I was in charge of shoes.
It was chaos , they told me to organise where the stock went and left me to it.
The final straw was when the lift broke and they expected me to carry stock up and down the stairs. I did for a whole morning , went to lunch and I didn't go back. My 3 day career at BHS.
I then enjoyed the summer doing not much and returned to school in September .
