Seems a good idea but those probably in the most need of knowledge will be unlikely to be the ones attending I would think.
This should have been done a long time ago by the powers to be within the Muslim Community, there is a lot of resentment through out the world caused by the evil Muslim Terrorists, It is unfair how people condemm the Religion but what can they expect, I do not think it will never end, but we can hope, can't we.
nice gesture, I hope anyone interested visits.
I think its a good idea for anyone wishing to try to understand how the mosques work. It may bring a bit of peace around the world.
Make sure you don't have holes in your socks !!!
"visit my mosque - everybody welcome".

.......unless you happen to be female.

Mushroom, I am a female and my friend and I visited our local mosque two years age as part of "Open Doors" day. We were treated with respect and had a lovely day. Certainly opened my eyes.
I've been in a Mosque and my Grandchildren have been on trips from School to one too.
The mosque local to me holds regular 'open days' where all are welcome for food and chat. Nobody's tried to convert me.
What did you learn, Maggie?
I've been in a Mosque, Sikh temple, Buddhist temple/monastery and Jewish synagogue.

Just smile and ask, works surprisingly well. Made welcome and nearly always someone available to answer questions.
I'll come with you, I've been in many religious institutions in my time, including several mosques. The more info we can all learn about, the better, IMO.

(...and if the secretive Masons now open their doors to the public - which they do - why not go there too?)
//The more info we can all learn about, the better, IMO.//

Why? If they are going to make an effort to enhance social cohesion, then bearing in mind that they’re living in a western society, that effort should be for them to understand us – not the other way around.
It works both ways, IMO, naomi - I'm sure there are many people who'd be interested to know what goes on in a mosque as much as what goes on in a church or Buddhist temple, there are enough questions people ask each other without actually asking directly to the institution itself.
Did it once, came out to find shoes nicked. I laughed though because they were pigskin.
I'm sure there are a lot of people who would be interested to know what goes on in a mosque - but if you think it works both ways, you're mistaken. It doesn't.

Mushroom all I get from your link is the HP Homepage, was there anything in particular?
naomi, do you belong to any sort of organised religion? Do you go to church/temple/chapel etc?
hc4361, I go to many churches, temples, chapels - and mosques - but I don't belong to any religion - organised or otherwise.
Yes I look forward to the Muslim residents (especially the ladies) of Tower Hamlets popping round to Christ Church Spitalfields for a bit of "Christian Enlightenment". :-)
