why not? I suppose the old heart is still hers to hold, I can't think who else it might belong to, though hospitals may have rules about what they do with amputated limbs etc

It is amazing, and should be documented, an old heart for a new heart. Who would have imagined that you could hold your heart in your hands???!!

I like how they call it a trophy... It's a sort of “I won!" photo. She beat her old defective heart and that's her trophy :)

They won't even let you have screws etc from a fracture op these days (or at least not at our hospital) my son was gutted that he wasn't allowed to have his after their removal, especially as they were bigger and much more impressive than the ones his dad got to keep 20 odd years previously!

Must admit I was disappointed too headwreck, they did a great job on a bad fracture, the x-rays looked amazing but after 18 months all the metalwork went off to the incinerator :(
