How to get music from ipod to itrip

I am just wondering if there is a way of gettin music from my ipod onto my new computer. I dont have some of the music that was on the old computer to put onto this one and the fact its broke so i cant access it now. does it mean its all lost? or is there a way of doing it?

Plug in iPod, make sure the settings show hidden files and drag them back on computer. They will all have 4 letter codes but the names will come back as normal when you play through iTunes.
