Just watched tonight's channel 5 programme, Eddie Stobart: Trucks, Trailers and Tinsel, which was about the valiant efforts made by the drivers to deliver all the Christmas stuff in appalling weather conditions.
It was an excellent programme, but one thing made me wonder. Fiona, jackknifed on the exit slip road of a motorway, which was on an uphill slope. When they pulled her clear, she reversed back onto the motorway, to come off at another junction. Surely this would be illegal, unless there was special allowances made because of the atrocious weather.

Yes it would, unless the police instructed her to do it...
Why?
On the assumption that you're not joking:

The police generally have the power to instruct you to ignore any rule of the road, they'll tell you to turn round and drive the wrong way up a motorway if necessary (I've been told to do that myself)
please tell me Fiona is the name of the lorry driver..
I've got a horrible feeling it's probably not!

Sara, yes Fiona is one of the 14 female drivers employed by Stobart. She was driving to Liverpool, late at night, to pick up a load of frozen turkeys (3000 I think) and take them to Tesco's at Doncaster
I was thinking this was like a Thomas the tank Engine type plot, and Fiona was a lorry!

lol :o)
If she was a Stobarts lorry she would have two names, such as Fiona Jane.
Strange use of the term jackknife to describe an artic stuck in snow.

Fionas truck is Emily Nita Also not all Stobart lorries have two names for example
Leah, Linda, Lucia, Olivia,Madison,Peggy, ETC, ETC.
I want my name on one! (and my daughters').
I didn't realise that there were other female drivers employed by the company - whenever i've watched the programme , iv'e only ever seen Fiona .

One of the few females in a ' man's' world - good on her .

Reminds me of Lisa Kelly , in Ice Road Truckers
sherrardk - some times Stobart runs competitions to name a lorry.

Maybe you should join their club http://www.clubstobart.co.uk/index.php
Bertie,what other female drivers?
Supapapa - Sorry , i dont understand your question
Sorry Bertie you mean the 14 mentioned by Dennis567,
Indeed so
Question Author
ABerrrant, the artic was not merely stuck in snow, the cab had slid 90 degrees in relation to the rest of the vehicle. I have always referred to this as being jackknifed, please correct me if I am wrong.
In a jackknife it goes more than 90 degrees to the cab, it goes right back round and hits the trailer.

I didn't see the show, but I have skimmed through it on the link above, and cannot see her reaching anything approaching a jackknife
