I dare say I'll still end up stuck behind one of those distinctive green and white trucks on the A1 between Edinburgh and Newcastle !
Sad News but this family business will carry on going strong for many Years to come.
Watched a good Documentary about this Haulage business a few ago.
If only you all knew the true storey of Stobart! running other companies out of work with cheap rates, ask the hauliers of Scotland & there was a lot from Carlisle to Aberdeen & a lot more in between that went out of business because of this bloke.
The "true storey of Stobart"? You've got me floored.
Agree with TWR........a bit of a rascal is putting it kindly.
An icon of Brit Innovation and vision lost. RIP Eddie, v.sad loss
If you wait you might get a few responces from people / wifes up in Scotland that their husbands where put out of work because of this Stobart, the old HGV drivers will come up with a few storys! Eddie Stodbart in a Lay by! are you taking the pizzz was one.
Free competition is a real bugger isn't it.
H was more than a rascal Lesblue, but I dare not put what us old HGV drivers thought of him??
blimey! we see his lorries on the m.25 when ever were on there --which is fairly nearby
Power corrupts some but that doesn't detract from his inspiration and livery gracing our motorways.
It is when some cowboy puts your husband on the dole & the have a house. children to feed Chuckfigens, Iv met the men that this plonker put out of work & also the Scottish Hauliers.
TWR - Is that just business?
lol love the tweet that said they are making a movie about his life and they've seen the trailer .
Pressumbly you'd rather it was the drivers that worked for stobart that are on the dole, put out of their houses and struggling to feed their children then?
Ummmm, if there are Scottish Ex halage drivers on this site I will let them answer your Question, with respect to your answer.

It's business. You can't hold it against him for actually being successful at it.
Isn't is more a case that by being shrewd and operating with business acumen that ES managed to grow a multi million pound international haulage company? Not his fault that other hauliers were not quite so on the ball.
