The word is that as it didn't sell as well as expected and also because Ford (parent company) are losing money the X-type will not be replaced.

Yes, Dizmal's answer is correct the X-Type didn't fulfill Fords dream of battering BMW 3 series sales (mind you, you do see a lot of them around now). Also the transfer of production of the Freelander to Halewood has kept the factory busy so the X-Type will be allowed to wither...
