Hi, i have a '98 3 door corsa and when i have 2 people in the back there seems to be a grinding sound coming from the rear. The more weight the worse the sound. Its recently had new rear shocks so they should be ok. Thanks in advance

Are there mudflaps on the rear wheel arches? If so, they may scrape on the ground when extra weight is put in the back.

Ive got no mudflaps, its more of a metal/mechanical grinding sound

have you got non standard wheels or tyre's on it?

perhaps they are a bit to big to clear the arches??

It might be the rear part of the exhaust rubbing on the car body - I had a similar problem with my daughter's Corsa. New shocks ( dampers ) won't affect the ride height of the body when you have increased weight in the rear of the car but weak springs would.
Could be rear springs have become weak with age - new shocks ( dampers ) will not affect the ride height of the car body but weak springs will. I had a similar problem with my daughter's Corsa a few years ago and it was caused by the rear part of the exhaust fouling on the vehicle body.
