I think it would be expensive if it were optional.
Maria, I doubt that this would be available but, in any case, might cost more than the car is worth.

A slightly less effective solution would be to get a car fan heater that plugs into the ‘cigar lighter’ socket. These are not at all expensive and easily available. Simply search for “Car fan heater” or ask in a good car accessory shop. Clearly you want one that can sit where it will heat the windscreen from the inside.
The only time I encountered a heated windscreen was many years ago and I found that I got iritating sparkles off it at night when a car came towards me.
In the days when I had my car parked outside I used to leave a watering can full of water in the hall. If frosty I poured it all on the windscreen. By pouring it all on the windscreen it warmed it sufficiently for it not to freeze up again before the heater came on; it also stopped my breath from freezing on the inside screen.
Years ago the wifes XR3i had one. You can see the elements in the screen and it cn be a bit irritating.

I doubt they would be adequately installed if unless the car was wired for it in the first place.
I had a Ford Mondeo on a 53 plate once and that had a front heated screen which was fantastic. Worked very well and gave me no glare or any irritating visual. Incidentally I now have a Jazz and the heating, demisting function is superb.
That's clear then. :-)
It's only Fords isn't it? I think they hold the patent.

They are brilliant on a frosty day.
Odd that number one on the list is the Vauxhall Corsa, but it isn't an option on the current Corsa.
I just found this on a leasing website.

"Interestingly enough, Ford Motor Company was the first company to release this technology and subsequently, they created a patent on it named 'Quickclear'. This meant that other companies couldn't use the heated windscreen technology. More recently Ford has been leasing out the technology to other car companies and it can be seen on Volkswagen, Vauxhall and Range/Land Rovers. Some car manufacturers have created their own version of the heated windscreen technology using a different methodology."
why? is your demister not working?
Come on TTT, there's no comparison.

My car has shown minus 11 recently. How long do you have to run your Jag before the demister thaws the screen fully on days like that?
I just wondered if the normal demister was working. My Jag does have a heated front screen as standard. I don't think any model of Jazz ever had a heated screen so there would be no infrastucture in the car for it even if one existed.

Seriously ?
Yes Bazile. They are not common. I've only ever experienced them occasionally, on Fords.
Well , I'll go the foot of our stairs .

I drive a Ford Focus

I thought most cars nowadays had HW or should I say it was common

From now on when I'm out and about I'll shout to people , asking them if they want to touch my HW - lol
Ford held the patent for many years and I've only ever had one Ford, an Anglia (1968, as our second car. Since travelling in the Ford that did have the heated screen I decided I wouldn't want one anyway.

Why is that bhg ?
I didn't like the sparkling at night was the main reason - maybe they are better now as it was 30 or 40 years ago. Nowadays I have no need for one as I keep the car in the garage; on the very, very rare occasion it gets frost on it I'm happy to use a de-icer spray.
The wires are almost invisible in my Jag, you have to look very closely to see them. Never known any "sparkling" at night.
