Not really, most cant afford them. And with the price rises in energy on top of a high purchase price most will be priced out.

Zacs, EVs are still very dear but when they do become prevalent the government will have to claw back the fuel duty somehow, I think road pricing is inevitable. I have a mate who bought a Tesla Model 3 for over 50k, It's cheap to run alright but it's a lot of outlay.

I'm sure electricity prices will go up but there's a helluva long way to go before they catch up with petrol/diesel making EVs more and more attractive by the day.

That depends on fuel prices. As fossil fuel cars decrease on the road, fuel costs will rise. There's also the government's policy on taxing polluting cars to consider.

You seem to be ignoring the overall cost ZM. And the fact you will undoubtedly pay more for leccy to charge a car. Why else the push for smart meters if not banded charging?

Anyway for the purpose of the discussion on getting people off the road the purchase price of a leccy vehicle (together with proper charging facilities) is prohibitive to most.
