On a recently acquired 2008 BMW 330i M Sport, the clock needs to be re-set every 3-4 days. I have followed the manual to the letter and it sets OK, but sure enough after a few days it ' zeros' and needs setting again. Any thoughts please. I am sure Old Geezer will have the answer !!

Fair enough, I shall leave it for OG then,

It sounds like you need a new battery, ancillary components shutting down to preserve power to start the car.
t could be something as simple as a bad or loose connection. When does it happen? when you're driving, when you start it, after leaving it for a few days?

BHG 481. it usually happens if left for a day or two. Maybe Ratter I need to get the battery checked just in case.
I have a Volvo, so things will be different, and when my battery has been low the electric boot-opener and the radio have failed to operate, although the car started happily enough; I did get a warning message on the instrument display though. Was the clock zero when you turned on the ignition? perhaps you didn't look until the engine was running. I think Ratter has a good point and most places selling batteries will test it for you free.
Surely if it was the main car battery, it would struggle to start.
Do you know if it's had a battery change before you had the car ? and if so is it the correct battery for your car.

Hoppy - no, the car seems to be programmed to cut out "luxuries" if the battery is down to make sure there is enough juice to start it.

I know the previous owner, and anything but everything went to the BMW dealer so I assume the battery ( no idea how old it is ) was the correct one.. Certainly no struggle to start, but as aid before I will get the battery checked. Watch this space and thanx for your input so far.
