Is it just my perception , or are drivers getting more impatient nowadays ? -

Take the ones who overtake you to arrive at the junction a few seconds before you do

Take the ones driving behind , who have got their hand stuck on the horn when your'e at a junction waiting to make sure , before you pull out , that the vehicle coming along the main road ( indicator operating ) really does intend to turn

i'm not saying that i dwell on any of the particular incidents i've cited .
I'm simply making an observation , prompted from a conversation i had with my colleague earlier , who was commenting on the same thing .

By the way , i work for one of the uk's large fleet operators .
You'd be surprised at the number of accidents that occur , when drivers pull out at a junction , relying on the signal of the driver on the main road , even when it looks like the driver does intend to turn
Day one driver training ASSUME makes an ASS out of U & ME - or do they not teach that these days?

//you sound like a dawdler to me. Dawdlers and ditherers a major cause of traffic jams.//

I'm neither - so you are completely mistaken
Its not just you Baz.....I think many drivers plan their time badly and try to make up time by racing about everywhere...a bit like the hare and tortoise story. As they say ..Perfect Planning Prevents Pi?? Poor Performance.I recon many of your above critics fall into the hare and tortoise category.
I do not think that at all Baz, it's the way people are nowadays, they want to get there before they have even started the journey, It was tried by the Cement Comp I used to work for, my answer to the Transport office, I will get there when I get there, it's as simple as that, I would not risk the publics lives for the likes of someone that trying to get "Brownie Points"
Bazile, i wouldn’t be at all surprised. My late husband used to observe (train) for RoADar (road safety arm of RoSPA) and the IAM both in cars and on motorcycles. It was he who taught me to be SURE that drivers are turning left before you pull out, to ignore overtaking drivers once they are safely past and clear and ignoring the horns of fools.
As far as I'm concerned good manners and politeness have almost ceased to exist on the road!
apart from the school run times and locations, its pretty good around here.
You do have to realise that the mummy in the X7 is under enormous pressure ...

... she has to get young Hugo to his violin classes, Harriet to her tai chi and little Mezzanine to her after school gymnastic trampolining session.

This entitles said mummy to :

1. Park on double yellow lines (or even on those special wavy lines by a school entrance - which obviously indicate "BMW Only")

2. Drive whilst using her Cartier iPhone

3. Wear sunglasses in her bottle-blonde hair at all times - even after dark

4. Honk at anyone impeding her by even a nanosecond.
sd.....who makes the X7?..or do you mean the the Q7..in which case its an Aldi...not a BMW...:-)
An Aldi! Ha.

x7 is on it's way.
It's because the roads are getting more crowded and it's going to get worse as the population increases due to immigration.
It must be a Brit thing, you don't get it here, and you don't get it in my experience, in the US. The Italians are mad, but somehow not aggressive.
When I come to England in a German-plated car I get it, but I thought that was just because they wrongly think I'm a German, so I'm relieved to hear you are all getting it too. :0)
I'm obviously psychic ... or a lidl forgetful

What's the story behind you living in Germany Khandro .

Are you Retired there Or work there ?
Bazile: I'm past 'retirement age' but I'm a professional artist, so I can't retire ( I'll no doubt be carried out with a brush in my hand). Why Germany? well, for oldies the health care is marvelous, free and prevention-based, there is no class-consciousness, my neighbours could not be nicer, more welcoming and helpful, I can drive to France, Switzerland or Austria within 2 hours, the best bread in the world is baked in a wood-oven in my next village, the beer is great and what is more, in Germany you are never far from one!
There was an Audi A4 or A5 that overtook me today burning lots of rubber but I still was with him at next set of traffic lights lol
When I was learning to drive I was told to assume that everyone else on the road is an idiot. I can spare a couple of seconds. I let the fools pass or do what they want to do - and I have never been responsible for an accident.
so was I naomi, also that the only driver behaviour that I could control was my own, so that’s where I should focus my efforts.
