Its been a few days since my car passed its MOT, but this morning I suddenly noticed that my odometer light has gone out (coincidence ?)

Q. Whats the possible cause (digital display, recording miles + trip meter) and how much is it likely to set me back ?.
TIA.

On an old Astra that I had one of the dashboard lights would go off. A firm thump on the top of the dash would bring it on again.

A firm thump on the top of the dash would bring it on again.
It'll prob be a bad/loose connection ... or possibly a blown bulb.
I remember changing a few bulbs on my dashboard on a Citroen AX (ages ago) .... easy to replace the bulbs themselves .... the problem is getting the freakin' display unit out lol ...........

To be honest Hopkirk, I scoffed at your suggestion when I read it but the next morning I thought what the ***, give it a try.
A strategically placed, firm thump on top of the dash, brought the light back, voila!
First time I've felt like the Fonz in years!! Cheers
I learnt that in the 60s withg my parents TV set - you had to thump in the right place.
