OH has just 'phoned to say someone drove into the back of the Beemer as she was going into Canterbury a couple of hours ago.
Says there doesn't appear to be any damage other than scratches on the bumper, luckily it was in slow moving traffic.
Also the main thing she is OK, just feeling a bit shaken-up.
It was only a month or so back we fitted front and rear cameras in that car so we'll see if they're any good or not.
It's annoying, out of the three, the Beemer's my favourite!
Svejk,
Without getting the manual out, I believe if it detects a 'bump' it keeps the footage from ? number of seconds beforehand and ? time afterwards, and you view it on your PC, we,ve never needed to view before.
Glad you wife is ok Baldric. Hope she took insurance details from the person who hit her, these little bumps can be expensive. Someone reversed into the front of my virtually new car and it cost nearly £500 to put right, she was doing about 10mph!
As a further answer to Svejk, most cameras record on a micro-SD card and can be set either to over-write or stop when the card is full. As a first approximation you get about 6 hours recording in HD on a 32Gig memory card.
Margot, we should have them on film, when she gave me the Reg number of the other car, and told me it was a Subaru Impreza, I told her what the other driver looked like, know exactly where to find them (it's a small World)
Just got home, OH is fine.
Rear bumper split right down the middle, can't see any distortion in the boot or underneath, so by the look of it a new bumper, and spray to match. Going in Thurs. morning for a check over and a quote.
Mic and I were driving into Leeds a good while back. We were rear ended, all the other driver said was "Your fault you shouldn't have been there". He lost.
Glad to hear it Jeza,
This one gave my Wife her details, I know her anyway I realised when I got the Reg. number and model, and now I've checked the rear camera, we have a very good film of her doing her make-up just before the Bump, and we both use the same broker, so hopefully no problems.
Just back from Body Shop and Insurance Brokers, quote is for just short of £1k. Good news is the other driver has already been in to see them and admitted liability, so repair and loan car have been arranged with very little hassle, so far!
Just because there doesn't appear to be damage it doesn't mean there isn't. Someone drove into me and I couldn't even see a scratch. When my OH took it to the body shop (we owned the body shop) it was bent inside the boot.
