God help me it's a boring question, but can anyone tell me what the longest section of motorway is (on any motorway in the UK) in between 2 junctions. I asked my flatmate out of nowhere and he insisted without looking up it that it was on the M5 towards Exeter. I cannot believe that anyone would just know this.

<coughs> !

Couple of diff. of opinion on this in the household.  Some would say its J10 on the M11.  The next possible exit is J8 because of restrictions on J9.  This is approx. 18 miles. However, there are a number of restricted junctions on the M25 that are slightly more than this.

I go along with Mrs P. M11 j8-9 is the longest between junctions anyway, at about 15 miles, but if you use the 'next possible exit' proviso, the longest is the M26/M25. Get on at M26 J 2A and you can't get off until M25 J6 about 20 miles away.

I don't know with how much glee I'm going to announce this tonight when I walk through the front door. Cheers
