Yes, but then it should be enforced.
I also agree that the single carriageway speed limit should be reduced to 50.
No.
Yes.
yes, but only for me and everyone else should just get off the road!
Most limits should.
That 80 in the title, that was for residential areas ?

Been an Ex HGV Driver, & I have driven at 56 mph & shortly because of the EU Knob heads coming down to 50mph, do you think that the HGVs should have their speed put back up to the Orig 60 mph & coaches back into the outside lane? by doing this, this would not cause the build up of HGVs trying to pass each other when one has the power advantage over an other?
Yes... (though most people do about that already)

And the HGVs overtaking each other really annoys me! especially when truck1 overtakes truck2 (taking 4 miles to do so) and then as soon as it pulls in truck2 has a slipstream so it immediately pulls out and overtakes truck1 back! and so it repeats!

Wait untill it comes down to 50 mph Chuck, then you will see some build ups.
I agree with the lorries and coaches but no coaches in the outside lane please

As the busiest but safest motorways in Europe, I also feel our speed limits should stay as they are and enforced!
of couse I missed the word 'speed from my first sentance
They are the safest despite not being particularly enforced, so obviously set too low.
I do agree with you BTW TWR... the lorry speed limit should be increased. modern lorries can stop nearly as quickly as cars so there is no reason why they shouldn't be able to do 60MPH on a motorway. I also think it would reduce a lot of accidents caused my people trying to overtake in unsafe places if the speed limit for lorries on single track A roads was increased from 40MPH to 50.

That said, lorry drivers who tailgate other lorries 5 feet away or read when driving (we've all seen it!) should have an entire library of books thrown at them!
Of course it should, since the implementation of the speed limit of 70mph in 1965 massive increases in car technology have taken place, better brakes, better tyres, better steering, but around schools it should be 20mph.

Perhaps we could have variable speed limits like in France, 130kph/80Mph or 110kph/ 70Mph when wet

I agree Chuck regards too close, I have seen it happen, ploughing into the rear of someone else as big as the HGV is, there is nothing in the front to stop the driver getting crushed.
I would like to see:- Cars 80mph Motorways, 70 mph D/Carriageways, 60 mph Single carriageways.
HGV's stay as they are.
Coaches from 62mph up to 65 mph.

How long have you been driving Paul?
In the interests of both safety and of the environment, a rigidly-enforced 60mph limit would be better.
Yes 80mph - but for motorcycles only :-)
no, but i can't see why people are in such a hurry to go somewhere so quickly
