I have just had a quote for 220 from Chevrolet garage to replace some sort of emissions part on my Daewoo Matiz (five years old). My orange check light came on so I took the car in.

Not having a clue about cars and no one to ask etc. I am having to rely on the garage's advice. Is this expensive?

HELP!!

It's going to depend on what the aprt is that needs replacing mate - you could always take it to an auto-electrician, or someone who is independent but has the diagnostic tools to double check, but that'll cost you.

It's likely that the part will be a main dealer part only as well, so the only thing you may potentially make a saving on intially is labour, but if the car then has to go onto Daewoo/Chevrolet's computer to re-programme the car, then you're not really saving anything
Depends on the labour really ,the sensor is normally about ninety odd pounds and depending on how long it takes to change the labour could be any thing from half an hour to a couple of hours . Dont for get main dealer hourly rates are a lot higher than small garages for the same work
I answered this question in the question directly below.

If it is a n oxygen sensor, it sounds about right. Looks like a spark plug thingy stuck in the cat?????
