Been out this morning and parked in Disabled bay but forgot to put my badge on display. Came back to a parking charge on the windscreen. On checking this, they have got my reg number wrong. What should I do?

If you ignore the ticket, the price goes up accordingly to how long it takes you to pay.

Good luck Kathyan, I hope your appeal works.

Ignore the people who seem to suggest you have committed a crime.
Not a crime, but absent-mindedness - we've all done it, but it was honest forgetfulness, I wouldn't try to get out of it.
Why not Boxy?
In recent yaers I have received two private parking tickets and each time followed this advice

Worked a treat in both instances.
I guess that like Eccles, I was brought up to acknowledge if I was wrong!
In what way is Kathyn 'wrong'?

My wife bought a pay and display car parking ticket, but it blew off the dashboard when she shut the door so she got a penalty notice.

We appealled, and the notice was cancelled. Should we not have appealled?
After all my wife was not displaying a ticket, contrary to the regulations.
It isn't a question about being right or wrong boxy - private car parking charge notices are unenforceable invoices.
I agree there, sir.prize, but I saw no suggestion in Kathyan's post that this was a private parking arrangement?
Where does it say that Kathyan's parking charge was from a private company?
Boxy - snap!
Very true - I overlooked that. Sorry
The Op made a mistake, but then so did the person who issued the ticket when they wrote the registration down wrong.

On balance I think an appeal is perfectly justified.
I made a complete duh earlier this week. Hire car, drive into the park, it's raining and I am short of change - I decide to use the Ringo app to pay.

Came out and there's a ticket - duh, didn't even give it a thought - hire car to my beast - two different numbers.

A warden was there and she could see the payment; her advice being to write a letter in to the Council and include a copy of the rental and details where my car was.

Done and we shall see.
I think the route Kathyann has chosen - to try an appeal and if it fails then pay, is fine in these circumstances.

Not sure how the wrong registration number will affect any paperwork, hopefully we will discover later.
I agree mamya. Kathyann WAS entitled to park, but didn't prove it at the time. If they are happy to accept that now, fair enough.

It's a jolly poor show if allowances can't be made for human error.
