At the risk of inciting more negative input I have to say today is one of those days I feel proud of my country, within 24 hours of the announcement of the death of Prince Phillip we have these 41 gun salute ceremonies set up and televised all over the UK and Gibraltar - all the forces, ceremonial guns and horses involved. Yes I know they will have it planned but even so, the organisation is amazing and so quickly. Something we have always been top notch at.

...and some truly lovely and inspiring music on Radio 3, continuing all day
And he deserved it. Funny man. He'll be really missed.
Sadly all I heard today were complaints about the tv coverage, because they had to turn to something other than Bbc/ITV sometimes I despair of those that pass for human in my area.
Quite right, Prudie, and none more so than the King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery at Woolwich who were on bended knee for the duration of the 41 gun salute.
At the risk of inciting more negative input? then why not just start off with.... I have to say today is one......... negative, or just someone who has a different take on the RF?
Careful. Prudie may say you hate the English tea cakes. :-)
Rule Brittannia.
Sorry Britannia.
There have been some marvellous, moving and well deserved tributes.

Because teacake I tend to think of posters as real people like me, I say things that I would were they in the room with me which in this case might have been preceded by a comment such as 'at the risk...' etc. And for the benefit of those who may be a bit thick this is actually nothing to do with the Royals nor the English. It's about the British forces (and the media in this case) being outstanding at this kind of event.
So people are in a room with you and you would say... For the benefit of those who may be a bit thick... that's what you would say?
"So...." lol.
Prudie, I haven't actually watched any, but will have a look on YouTube, but yes, it is something Britain excels at.

I might if they were nasty people having a dig just for the sake of it yes. So I expected some negative (although not in the way it has arrived) so you've both said your piece now why not leave the thread for those who agree it was a moving and brilliantly executed event.
Well please make your mind up, in the room, or not in the room, I might if they were nasty, is nasty another word to replace someone s opinion. And I've not said it was not a moving event.
Teacake, why are you trying to bully prudie? She acknowledged people might have different views, that's all. You seem to be criticising her for it, while also proving her right.
Were's the bully post?
Bite his ankles Pixel.

I too am proud of the guncrews etc who paid this fantastic tribute.
Absolutely agree Prudie, I echo your comments in the OP. I think they have done Prince Philip proud today and well deserved it is too.
The guns were going off in Australia as well. Just brilliant. The event is being watched the world over. Well done everybody who has taken part either in planning or executing this world class display.
The tributes have poured in for this extraordinary man, and yes it is good to see the ceremonies that have ensued.
