I picked up a wall clock in a thrift store today for $30. When I got home, I discovered that it had a beautiful $370 German Franz Hermle and Son Westminster chime movement inside it!

Any pictures Stewey?
Question Author
Not yet, mazie...Soon.
Look forward to it... And, well done with the purchase x
Question Author
It's not an antique movement. It was made in West Germany in 1974, so I guess you'd class it as vintage maybe.
Tip top tick tock....
Do you sell them once you are finished tarting them up or do you an Mrs have hundreds of clocks ticking away?
Question Author
Good one, shoota:)
What's a thrift store?
Question Author
I keep some; sell some; give some away as presents. My collection is insignificant to some hobbyists houses I have visited...Clocks everywhere: floors, tables, walls, sideboards, etc. I never see too many wives in these houses: there's not enough room for them I guess:)
Question Author
Hopkirk, I think you call the charity shops over there.
Oh yes, we've got hundreds of those!
Question Author
The largest nation-wide "chain" of them is run by the Salvation Army. I imagine it's the same in the UK.
I got thrown out of the civil service on the grounds of insanity. These days I volunteer in a Specialist Oxfam book and music shop. We have a gorgeous shop.
Question Author
Surely, wolf63, insanity is a prerequisite to be hired by the civil service:)
Certifired insane....
Very true. I managed to get my monthly pension and lump sum at forty year old - I am a pensioner. :-)
Shoots, worked for DWP - your Shotgun would have come in handy.
Question Author
It must be nice, wolf63. I almost CHOKED on that one, shoota: did you get your Gillie Suit back from the cleaners yet?
