I keep reading that the BBC has 28 dedicated channels so asall sports are covered enabling the viewer to watch their favourite event. I have just a normal Freeview and there appears to be just the 3 channels to select from BB1 BBC3 or BBC Red Button. Have I got this 28 channel idea wrong

I've only got the 3 - perhaps HD as well. Does that include radio?
I am getting BBC on the Sky Box, watching Murray & Robson in the mixed doubles and there was 4 tennis channels to chose from without all the rest so would guess that overall 28 is about right.
only three it seems, and sometimes they have the same event on two channels, which seems odd, but apparently we are not the only people saying this.
I thought they were on Sky and Freesat, not sure though as I don't have either.
There's loads on the Red button including anything that's live (eg 13 different events at the moment). Perhaps they are including the HD channels in the 28.
i've got those 24 bbc olympic channels (in both HD and standard) on virgin cable and they are also available on this freeview site http://www.tvcatchup.com/channels.html
i cannot speak for sky customers.

i'm with virgin media .. in addition to bbc1 and bbc3 coverage, the sports section has 24 bbc-olympic channels to cover all events -- those channels are also dulplicated in HD on nother 24 channeels.
actually five BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, 301 and sometime later 302.
should add that those are in addition to BBC1 HD, BBC3 and BBC HD, which are usually the channels showing the olympics
On Sky, in addition to the standard BBC channels, you have BBC Olympic 1-24 from channel 450-473. Those 24 channels are also available in HD versions as well.
Thanks Aquariel I didn't know they were there!
So I think the answer to this question is only if you have paid the extra for Sky or Virgin. If you have bog standard Freeview you don't get much more than three or four tv channels of events
You don't have to pay for Sky to get them, I use Freesat from Sky.
