Not watching, just turned onto BBC1 for the news, I gather Germany won - anyone else see all of it, was it the right choice?

I only watched some of the voting but Germany didn't win, it was Azerbaijan (?sp.)
Azerbaljan won. Ireland were much better, imo!
Yes true they did...and I can;t spell it either lol....didn't like the song and IMO the lead female singer was off key.
the last time I watched it Pearl Carr and Teddy Johnson were representing us..LOL
I lie, it was Sandy Shaw

She was certainly off key singing the celebratory repeat! - I saw some German flags, that's why I got it wrong. Makes a change, I guess!
I think it's time this farce was scrapped, the voting is too political.
Well, I voted for Azerbaijan, so I'd have to say that (amazingly!) the best song really did win this year ;-)

However, I'd still have to admit that there were no really 'classic' songs in the competition.
I voted for Italy and Rumania.
Christ, Azerbaijan were rubbish!
Political?

Azerbaijan hasn't got many neighbours in the EBU!

Anyway, the UK gave maximum points to Ireland. Was that really 'political' or simply because a lot of UK residents (bizarrely) like Jedward?

the best song out of the load of crap was Germany's imo, it had a Diane Vickers sound to it. accompanied by a typical 'The Cure ' baseline.

and most importantly...she was cute.

Germany was the host nation boxy hence the flags. The voting is 90% all political.
Sorry Boxy, didn't see your post, only just come on.

I liked Lithuania.

Yeah-like Political, Italy voting for the UK, Finland voting for Hungary--- SOOO Political.
I said 90% - Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland all put one another in the top rankings. Cyprus put Greece first, I could go on and on and on
The voting was funny, with msot countries voting for their neighbours. And because we are on the edge of Europe (and don't have many friends) we pick up view votes. (Although Malta usually votes for us)
e.g.Moldova gave 12 marks to Rumania. Rumania gave 12 to Moldova.
The system is so flawed.
But does it matter?
I wondered this factor, do the performers feel their 'art' is not recognised for its value when they get voted for by their neighbours and allies? I really don't know.
A good Eurovision-style song won. Voting is not "political" of course, but it is biased. It's not as if British folk living abroad also vote for the UK now, is it??
Terry Wogan used to rant and rave about Greece and Cyprus and then, with a (presumably) straight face go: "Now surely we can expect a few votes from Ireland!"
The UK will never win the contest again unless they pick a Eurovision style song. Blue are adequate performers but the song was boring. Funny how nobody claims to care until after the voting, when suddenly we get all hot under the collar about it,
