Eerie Instrumental

Ive often heard this eerie instrumental music from tv programmes mostly when there American wilderness scenes(desert,swampland etc).I think its just played with a violin. Sorry if I'm a bit vague but who knows there might be someone out there who has heard it. Its a regular on a variety of programmes.
