I have just watched the latest film King Arthur. Nearing the end of the film Lancelot died in battle with out a hint of an affair with Guinivere. It is my belief of King Arthur & Lancelot that Lancelot had an affair with Guinivere behind the Kings back ????????? . When I have tried to look back on the internet it states that like William Wallace, Robin Hood, King Arther is part Myth is this true ??

Yes.

Most of what we accept as the story of Arthur comes from Malory's "La Morte D'Arthur", which was published in the late 15th century, and was based on French Arthurian tales.

This is quite an informative link: http://www.fact-index.com/k/k i/king_arthur.html

in the myth he does have an affair with guinevere. he is actually almost all myth.

Actually, in the early versions of the Arthurian legends, Lancelot doesn't appear at all. He first appeared in about the 13th Century, from a French version of the tale, but the origins of Arthur are much older (circa 11th century).

William Wallace was undoubtedly real, but just don't take Braveheart as any sort of guide to the real history - it's a load of old rubbish.

Arthur was probably based on an almalgamation of real celtic warlords who stood against the Saxon invaders, but there's little that can be verified as true. For instance, England, France, Wales and Scotland all claim that they're the true burial place of the once and future king!

You're right that most versions of the Arthurian legend have Lancelot having an affair with Guinevere.
