I may have heard this wrong, but I think there is an episode where the Doctor says he had a child once?
Am I right?

I think it was in Fear Her.
The First Doctor's companion Susan was his granddaughter,so he would have to have had a child,but this is the first time it is mentioned.

Rumour has it that the Doctors son could be Captain Jack Harkness of Torchwood fame

Doctor Who fans can't quite agree on whether Susan was a real relation or not.... All the references to his 'family' are here along with many tedious lines of enquiry!
