When I was a child in the late 1970s early 1980s I vaguely remember watching a play on TV. For years I always thought it was from 'Tales Of The Unexpected'. Having watched them all it wasn't and then it occurred to me that it may have been 'Armchair Thriller'?? The plot was set in a prison where an inmate comes to a deal with the undertaker that he should be smuggled out in a coffin but when he awakes in the coffin, the undertaker has died and he is in there with him. Does anyone remember this programme ?

Many thanks for such quick replies.

the working title ( insulting nick name used by the production crew)

of armchair theatre - - was armpit theatre

Armchair Thriller used to frit the life out of me.

I vaguely remember watching the original episode in 1964. Did a search and came up with this.....

I don't recall the description you give, but I did try to find the name of another series once (typically although I found it but I've forgotten again now) but annoyingly found out that the BBC had wiped all the tapes of the series so there was no chance of watching it again ☹
