Mikey, when Mr Alba was much, much younger and doing a paper-round, sometimes he had to waken the owner of the shop.
Owner would answer the door wearing a night-shirt and I kid ye not, a wee willie winkie night-cap too!
Alba....when I first read your post, the word "winkie" leapt straight out of the screen !
Lol at alba and Mikey :) my OH bought a nightshirt for a hospital stay recently. Thank goodness he never wore it. What a sight that would have been. :)
I hasten to add, the owner of the shop's house was next door to the shop.
He didn't live in the shop :-)

Did ask Mr Alba about the size of winkies ;-D
Fantastic, and of course, it being the 1970's, not a hint of gay subtext in any of the images.

Oh, hang on though .....
Do you want to know how they get the models to pull those facial expressions

They tell them to smile, and just before they take the picture, they shoot them in the back with a poisoned arrow!!
Mikey, they still advertise nightshirts for men in the Saturday Daily Telegraph - the model looks suitably embarrassed!
Golaie....I wouldn't expect anything else of the Telegraph
The only thing I remember is kipper ties.
I recall buying some platform shoes and very smart they looked as well !
Gawd blimey, Dave. Most of it looks like stuff only the yanks would have worn ;-)
Haha gladly most of that stuff passed me by, I was a 60s teen and into the smart "mod " thing and still am in a way I suppose. Would have loved to see Mikey in a full length black leather coat, could have told him he looked like Goebbels. (^_*)
Mine was a deep wine colour with a big vent right up to my lower back and slightly flared. Loved it and would wear it now if I could get one.
I have worn some daft stuff in the name of fashion; nothing quite so bad as the adverts, but not far off some of them I must admit. I am not sure which was worst, the flares, platforms etc. of the 70s or the David Byrne style big suits of the late 80s. Occasionally I got it right, like my mod attire in the 60s, but sadly have few photos of the times I got it right. I was best man a couple of times in the 70s and the knot on my tie was bigger than my head each time.

I still have a thigh-length leather coat, Cloverjo, it is a Versace (see I told you I had worn some daft stuff) and I bought it in the early 90s in Selfridges for half price as it had just come back from the catwalk. I haven't worn it in nearly 20 years, and couldn't get away with it at my age, but I bet it would still look good on someone much younger.

LOL, full length Black leather trench coats were very popular at Wigan Casino for a couple of years, Togo.

Gasped laughing at that Gara. Wear that coat or give it to someone who will....a coat deserves a life.
i remember nylon y-fronts polyester shirts aka saturday night fever style, stay pressed trousers, spooner shoes, velvet dress jackets
cheese cloth shirts that ripped when you raised your arms.
Would Mikey in one of those costs be like the Clint Eastwood look in one of those pasta westerns films
Costs ?
