An important message buried under upper class 'humour'.

Charles and William are trying to evict her and her *** ex whom she still lives with.

.
The other one ( is called);Andrew .
Sorry Doug, I can't agree.
People's humour is different and I don't see why she shouldn't give it a name instead of referring to it as a prosthesis.
At least she is doing her best to make people aware of this terrible disease.
I think she should call the other one Rodney.
If you've never watched Only Fools and Horses, you might not get that.

This time next year...

she'll still be taking with both hands.
Or perhaps she could do a Trigger and call it Dave.:-)
I have absolutely no problem with her humour. It has nothing to do with being upper class...I'd probably name mine too.
She has been through something that can be quite scary and devastating for any woman.
I'm glad she's got it off her chest
'Upper class humour' smacks of plain old inverted snobbery - and in this instance it's unkind and mean-spirited. Regardless of wealth or status, when the chips are down none of that renders pain and anguish less painful or less frightening. We're all human. Yes, Fergie is hare-brained but she's had to face up to and deal with something that the majority of women would dread even the thought of - and she's doing that admirably. It's a horrible disease and if, with her light-hearted humour, she's sending positive and hopeful messages to other less well-known sufferers, more power to her. I sincerely wish her well.
//The podcast also covered a range of other positive subjects - such as leading by example, taking responsibility for one's actions, and setting boundaries//

Hope Randy Andy watched the podcast.
I'm firmly with the good luck to her brigade, it's perfectly ok to use humour in difficult times or to get an important message across
Revolting man posts.
A horrible experience for anyone. If joking about it is her way of coping, then good luck to her.
Agreed, Tilly.
I'm quite shocked at this post really and cannot contribute anything that hasn't already been said.

I wish the Duchess a full physical and emotional recovery.
Breast cancer is a dreadful condition to happen to anyone, male or female, and however the person deals with the outcome is ok by me. I know people who have been lucky enough to avoid a mastectomy and another who had a breast removed but did not have a prosthetic. Everyone just ignores the fact she is flat chested one side and if that works for her, fine by me. I don't know how I would handle the situation if it should happen to me, please God don't let it happen. I try to tackle life with humour and like the idea of a nickname, being a pig lover, mine would have to be Pinky or Perky.
I think Sarah opted for reconstruction. A dreadful time for any woman but especially those with daughters and the thought that they may have the gene.

I wish her well, too. The more people who are prepared to talk about their experiences of cancer, the better.
Horrible OP, till you’ve looked cancer in the face ,any cancer ,you will never know the pain and the anguish it causes, wealth doesn’t come into it, Cancer doesn’t cherry pick it’s victims , rich or poor
Sorry Doug, I can't agree.
.
I sincerely wish her well. oo-er Mrs, I agree with Naomi for once, just a little bit

and as some are inplying: AB may not be the correct relevant venue to discuss this. Dont get me wrong, free speech and all that. But knock about AB with stalkers to the left of you and slimeballs and face-rippers to the right( see yesterday) may not advance the discussion

It is common for new hemiplegics ( people paralysed down one side) to call the paralysed side, "someone else". Their body image is obviously impaired ( changed) - and so it may be that Ferge is referring to the reconstruction as someone not her ( Derek).

It may be a response to a mutilating operation. Having had one, you go around feeling terribly mutilated. You write about it ( autopathography) but no one allows themselves to be photographed. So she (may) have complex psychological issues which are not aided by gay and breezy discussion and banter.

god I feel such a party pooper.
I agree with those who applaud her action in naming it - confronting it head on as an incontrovertible fact - a very plucky thing to do in many ways - it's just a great shame her ex isn't a lot more savvy.
