why is it when ships meet there always in line with each other, would they not some times be coming at each other from funny angles, like one going up and the other going accross as there is no up, down or right way around in space? just wondering is all...

But I'd guess the official answer would be that the software operating the camera changes the image so it appears to be correct way up.

 

But another question would be about lip movements, OK, so they've got the universal translater so they hear the aliens speaking in English - but how come the aliens mouth move in synch with the Englsih words??

that's a really good question. they must have lied! the historical documents are a forgery!
Ahem, because it's not reality guys! Suspension of disbelief and all that.
Leading on from the lip-sync answer... I wondered why all the aliens looked more-or-less human, apart from things like funny foreheads etc. According to a Trekker (they hate being called 'Trekkies') colleague, the universe 'was' seeded by humanoid beings... A clever ruse to use human actors and save on special-effect costs...
