. Can anybody enlighten me - I have got a tracking number for an item and it is due to be delivered on Monday. Will a tracking number make sure I will get the item. TIA

Won't guarantee that you'll get on Monday, jj, However you will be able to go on their web site and see what stage of the delivery it's at.

oh thanks Tony - I have certainly done that and have done that in previous tracking items and they have arrived but just wondered whether they follow through today's turmoil in RM

I spoke to my local postie and asked him "is there anything wrong at the Royal Mail, yes he said "everything". but most of all RM are dealing with the loss of one thirds of the staff due to Covid hence no regular posts.

All a tracking number really means is that RM have accepted that they've got your package within their system. There can be no guarantee that it will reach you on Monday, especially with RM's current staff shortages and the Christmas rush.

A tracking number doesn't mean delivery by a certain date.

Even paying for delivery before 1pm the next working day means, "deliver within three working days by 5.30pm" for some Highland and Island postcodes.

My parcel still hasn't been delivered by Royal Mail and I was given Dec 2nd as the delivery date.
When I track it, all it tells me is that it has been dispatched.
I can contact e-bay now which I will do tomorrow.

Don't know if it helps but I have signed up to R M. I get an email when they receive a parcel telling me who it is from. Then one saying they will deliver on and between, then one saying delivered!
If they attempt delivery and cannot I get an email saying delivery attempted will try again on date or next working day. GreT service and never had a problem so far
