A bloke who kicked a football about and appeared in a comic.
I was named after lots of people! Despite having been born in what was then the poorest borough in the country (London's Limehouse), and having worked ''in service', my mother was always a bit of a snob. (I think that Hyacinth Bucket was modelled upon her!).

So, when she heard on the radio that the most popular name given to boys in the year before I was born, as recorded in the birth announcements of "the top people's newspaper" (as she saw it, i.e. The Times) was Christopher, my name was automatically decided upon for her ;-)
No. I had to be rushed to the special care unit. A midwife named me and it just stuck.

I'm pleased that I wasn't named that way!

'Bloody-hell-what-a-monstrosity' would have been far too long for me to fill in as my forename on forms ;-)
