For me, Blackadder. I've just watched, for the umpteenth time, Percy discover purest green .... and I still laughed.

Inspector George Gently for me, great storylines and very true to Newcastle & Durham in that era.
I've just finished watching 'Upstairs Downstairs' from beginning to end and thoroughly enjoyed it.
'The Goodlife' and 'Dads Army' still make me laugh but I think its nostalgia rather than comedy content .
I like a lot of American comedy.. 30 Rock, Curb and really like Schitt's Creek, though it's a lot more gentle.
Have Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister ready to watch on DVD. Also love Porridge but can't stand Doc Martin (want to slap him lol).
Blackadder also stands the test of time.
Love Fawlty Towers
Oooh, upstairs downstairs APG, where did you get that on?
And The Duchess of Duke street was another I liked
Heroes, Primeval, Flash Forward

For my wife just started her 11th run through Downton.
//Can't stand The Royle Family - or Mrs Brown's Boys.//

Y'know Naomi, it's taken a while, but I think we've finally found some common ground. I can't abide either, or the similarly critically loved The Office. Ricky Gervais has the sort of face I'd happily hit with a bit of 4x2.
Peep Show
Mozz totally agree about Gervais, i have tried to like him but i just don't
watched the Office and thought what a load of carp as TTT would say
I've heard good things about Afterlife, but I'm seriously put off from watching it because it stars Gervais.

The strangest thing is, I really like his partner in crime, Stephen Merchant, in most things I've seen him in outside of his work with Gervais.
me too, don't like his brand of "comedy" at all
I will admit that one of his stand up shows made me chortle a couple of times (although I felt guilty about it afterwards), so maybe it's just his scripted shows I don't like.

And that smug, charmless face.
smug is a good word, charmless as well, i don't do his type of comedy at all
Question Author
I dislike Gervais too - The Office wasn't for me at all - but that said, Afterlife and Derek were both excellent.
I may investigate Afterlife. See if it can change my mind.
i have seen him in a number of things, but confess its him i don't like.
I tend to agree Emms. I think it's more Gervais is dislike than his humour. I'm not exactly going into one of his shows expecting to like it.
i tend to stay away from anything he is in now to be honest.
//Edmund: ''Baldrick, have you no idea what irony is?
Baldrick: "Yeah. It's like goldy and bronzy, only it's made of iron ''//

aaaargh - this is like being made to listen or relisten to golgafrinchan poetry ( douglas adams)

you get better repartee from Naomi , Andie or TTT of a day
that is what keeps me coming back to AB
and as for repeated one liners - I still chortle when I read someone has quipped the immortal - stupid man!

roll on the repeats, copy and pastes and sheer nonsense you read on AB ! [ that is not off subject is it?]
