I sympathise, but you must realise that it's a HUGE story and one which, if not handled expertly by the government, could lead to a major crisis resulting (possibly) in the deposing of the PM himself.

And, though it pains me to say it, the number of daily deaths due to COVID-19 has become irrelevant to the sheople, so they need their fix of sensationalism.
JimF it is not sensationalism, it is about basic trust in those who expect us to take their advice on the most important issue to affect the world since the world wars.
Ordinary people have faced the most appalling grief, because they have not been able to see their family members in their last hours. They did this because the government told us it was necessary.
Who do we trust now? The country has lost faith and this needs to be addressed.
That is not sensationalism.
When rules are bent for those in power it's time to shout loudly. Ordinary people have been fined for the same thing and not defended by the PM.
The media is like that. They have such an issue trying to get interesting news that come any controversial event and they milk it for as long as possible. IMO it shows low standards; all we can do is check the "news" less often and hope not to miss anything worth knowing. Try turning to the funnies and the quiz pages.
what OG said. People are scared stressed and angry, they need to vent and they need a scapegoat.
media feeding frenzy caran. I too am bored to death with it, hopefully there'll be some other news soon.
jimF "I sympathise, but you must realise that it's a HUGE story " - think you mean huge non story, it's been whipped up out of all proportion by a baying mob.
Me too Tora. Hopefully by DC saying "I'm sorry, I effed up". Then I honestly think it will quickly peter out. I fear the more he digs in, the worse it will get.
IMO Cummings should stay ,I think he will be a big help to the Labour Party at the next G/E
I don't think that, in three or so years time, this will make the slightest difference in a GE Gully.
TTT, Seems to think it will . Mozz.
he can't apologise now mozz because that would mean accepting it was wrong, undoing all that's gone before and we'll be off again, new feeding frenzy. He's, at worst, stretched the rules, let he who is without sin etc. This is a combination of meeja feeding frenzy, left wing opportunism and Quisling retribution, with a dash of in house treachery thrown in from the small remoaner wing of the party.
no I don't think it will effect the the 2024 election, where have I said that gully? Labour will be tub cuffed in prime time TV as usual.
He probably feels there is no need for him to apologise , in his eyes he thinks he has done nothing wrong , after all he does work for TNP.
gully sulked for 2 months after the last GE!
I disagree Tora. I honestly think this is not about what he did, but it's the breathtaking level of arrogance he's shown in his doubling down. Others who broke isplation for one reason or another have apologised for their "crime", I think he still has the chance to do that and make this all go away.

If there are no fish to eat, they'll be no feeding frenzy from the sharks. Sardines and trawlers as a famous Frenchman once said.
Exactly Roy, an apology stopped any fallout before it happened.
err, nowt there roy!
all I see is a blank AB page
