Who should replace him? I think that Anne Widdecombe would make an excellent speaker.

er - she's not an MP tho'
Good riddance.
She has turned it down already I believe. I think she would be brilliant though.
Lindsay Hoyle, the deputy speaker.
anyone but Haridan Harperson.
Ann Widdecombe isn't an MP - she's an MEP.
The Speaker is either Labour or Conservative Member of Parliament.
Widdecombe is not an MP and is a member of a fringe Party with no MPs.
So she definitely will not be the next Speaker.
It will probably go to the female Labour Deputy Speaker whose name I have forgot.
Gromit//It will probably go to the female Labour Deputy Speaker//
There are two female deputy speakers:- Dame Eleanor Laing and Dame Rosie Winterton.
I Think Naomi would make an excellent,Speaker, she is very experienced.
odious little traitor, has bought the position into disrepute...hopefully the next speaker will remedy that

It should be Harriet Harman but whether she'll get it is another matter. Considering that Bercow is a Tory he has done a pretty good job in stopping the obnoxious Johnson from acting unlawfully.
oh how i'll miss the little twerp, strutting around full of his own self importance ...

di abbott, we need the humour ;)
lol Tambo.
Whoever it is , I doubt they will have the ability to put the arrogant know it all politicians in their place.

I have watched Sir Lindsay Hoyle on several occasions and he was very good at doing just that.
wasn't it Bercow who first encouraged debates on EU membership way back? I seem to recall previous Speakers were reluctant to do so.
Maybe a contender Danny ?
