not sure it's supposed to achieve anything but it certainly sounds boring to me

there is no accounting for taste, or the lengths some will go to to get their mugs on the box. I give programmes like this a very wide berth.
I agree - a very expensive project. I switched round to another channel

Could it be "Look how we live in Britain"?
Nothing to do with Gogglebox except that she was once a regular on there several years ago.
I watched a bit and may dip in but it's probably not aimed at the average ABer. Its aim is to achieve viewing figures. Do you think there is some other motive?
I meant to have a look but got engrossed in something else.

Compare and contrast programmes aren't a new format.

Did it not work ?

Ah- you think it is to encourage more people to come over here from Africa. Is it on TV in Africa?
It's an exercise in how much can be made from so little.

Chunky lass watches telly with parents, occassionally making amusing quip, gets more telly work, loses weight then puts it back on again and more.

It's a modern career path.
Chunky? Now there's an understatement:-/
My telly is not wide enough to watch her anymore.
Scarlett is well aware of what she sees as the failings of her body, having had plenty of time to absorb the comments.

It's interesting to see how the women in the programme see the exact opposite.

But hey, you keep reminding her eh?

Just you watch, AOG. (maybe you'd better not)
Next year, the Himba Tribe are probably moving to Roker Park in a follow up programme.

Surprised no one has played the race card yet. Apparently according to news reports, a number of viewers have.
No one has but some have?

Which is it?
Mamy; after watching the Dublin murders, i was channel-hopping and caught some of this programme on 4+1. In the few minutes i caught, she was being persuaded to wear the tribe women's traditional garb. She said she'd do it if she could wear a vest, then a swimsuit. Then she burst into tears, while banging on about how much she hates her body. Then i continued channel hopping. It was only a couple of years back she was flashing her body here, there and everywhere, having released a fitness video. Wonder how many women she 'body-shamed' during that period of her life?
Not necessary to make comments about her weight.

I came across the programme whilst flicking channels and stopped there because of the surprise of seeing a very British style house in the middle of african scrub. Not a programme I would choose to watch, but it was good to see the encouragement she received from the tribal girls to be proud of her curves.
Ken, I know she has battled her weight but I was unaware she'body shamed' as you put it, other women.
"Surprised no one has played the race card yet. Apparently according to news reports, a number of viewers have."

It's not racist in the slightest unless you've got zero clue what racism means.

It is showing the polar opposites of life and culture. How is that racist?

The british family are learning from the african tribe and vise versa.

The african tribe is half nomadic, so the fact they built the house means nothing to the tribes village.

It's actually very good, and shows insight into what really matters in life. Yes, it's a bit savage watching the british family have running taps, whilst the africans have to walk 20 minutes to dig waster out of a hole in the floor.. but hat is the point of the show! To show us how drastically different our lifes are.
She did not body shame women at all. She said how inspiring and shocking it was with how comfortable they were in their bodies, and how they have their boobs on display all day every day.
@12.28 How drastically different our life's are. But we already know how different our life's are to theirs. This is old hat, nothing new.
