I'm not unknowledgeable about world war 1, but after watching WW1 in colour it makes you wonder what we really have to complain about, ( including myself ) it brings one back down to earth, for what we take for granted. Well worth watching if you can stand it?

You constantly have a dig at me.

/// Now, don't stand in the way of him getting his digs in. ///

I did not divert the thread, this thread is about WW1 and the op wonders, what we really have to complain about.

So I was just making a point.

I didn't doubt that you lived through WW2, whatever that has got to do with it.
I was just proving your statement that "in WW2 most of the British secret agents dropped behind enemy lines were women", to be totally wrong, and I even provided you with a link to prove you so.

Now perhaps you will be courteous enough to admit your mistake?
AOG,1. You accused me of reading too many books so I pointed out that my knowledge did not come from books'
2.Thae fact the more men were killed than women doe not necessarily mean that more men were dropped behind enemy lines.

I didn't think I would start WW3 on AB. Anyway just thankful that I've been lucky to have lived a war free life.
Life was not a piece of cake for anyone involved in the First World War.

I feel truly blessed that, during my lifetime, this country has not been at war.

If you did not acquire your 'knowledge' through books, then please be good enough to supply me with proof, no matter where you gained it from.

Here is more from me.

AOG, Knowledge gained from newspapers and radio 1939-1945 and later'

You have derailed this post enough so I will leave it there.
//I feel truly blessed that, during my lifetime, this country has not been at war.//

I don't think Baldric shares your opinion. He was there (The Falklands War 1982)
Teacake, Falklands, Iraq, Afghanistan?

WW2 wasn't all sunshine either.

Only a few civilians were bombed from Zeppelin during WW1 and women cat-called any male who was eligible for conscription and not in uniform.
aog, women have also been fighting for the right to go into battle with the armed forces.

Funnily enough, many men object. I don't suppose you're among them?
Bomber aircraft and seaplanes were also used in WW1.
Teacake, if you think posting in TV is bad, wait till you try Food & Drink - that could start the Apocalypse.

Welcome to AB.

Can't we just agree that men, women and children just suffered, and many many died of a horrible death, that we hope will never happen again.

/// AOG, Knowledge gained from newspapers and radio 1939-1945 and later' ///

Crikey!!! a radio fitted to your pram and being able to read newspapers as a babe, that is really something.
...and no doubt someone will mention Bosnia,The Gulf, Afghanistan, Sierra Leone and Libya.

...but I know what I meant.

AOG, I appreciate that you were an infant at that time but I can assure you that I was not, because I had a bicycle I was recruited as a messenger by Civil Defence. Now, please stop casting aspersions at me.

Now there you go mam, food and drink, that is something we take for granted.
Perhaps The Falklands war wasn't during Tilly's lifetime?
