But seriously... this place, unmoderated, unpoliced, would not be worth visiting within weeks. I’d like to ban half the oiks on here, but I know the consequence of free range ‘debate’, and it ain’t pretty.

It's hardly brain surgery Canary......no need to get all "gushing.".
Why is zapping spam a thankless task?

Why is zapping spam a thankless task?

goodness knows, but who thanks them?

I suppose it's made slightly easier by the fact that spammers never seem to master the chore of writing a headline, so spam is recognisable in the Latest Posts panel by ellipses.
naomi - // Why is zapping spam a thankless task? //

Because it is carried out by Moderators, which in itself is the most thankless task I have ever come across!!
jno, why ellipses?
If they use a link as a header, it shows in LP as - ...
The sneakier ones don't start a thread of their own but tag on to an older thread, only spotted if it appears in LP, ie less than a month old.
Ta Lynne, silly me was thinking of the Aber.
Ah, I see.
I feel a little bit sick.

Any mod who thinks it is a thankless task is surely free to throw in the towel.
Absolutely.

Doesn't matter what I wish but rather than whining what a thankless task it is ....resign.
