That's a long time MM I have never had this problem before x
Might be worth trying a simple saline sinus wash like sterimar. Apart from the basic tastes, taste is mostly sense of smell so if you lose one, you lose the other
Good luck tamaris, I hope your case isn’t as bad as mine after a bronchial tract infection ( something like that) a good few years back when I contracted suspected swine fever/flu. I had the flu in a way I’ve never had it before 4 roughly 3 weeks, had to call the emergency dr when I realised I wasn’t getting better and was growing weaker and sicker by the hour.

I lost my smell and taste for approx 2 Years.
I had an awful flu virus about 6 weeks ago, my taste buds are still not right, but getting there. My ear tube is still slightly blocked and is taking time to get back to normal, My sore throat has only just gone after 6 weeks. There are some awful viruses about and the Doctor said some of the symptoms are taking longer than normal to clear. Hopefully in a few weeks you will be back to 100 per cent.

Well seems to be alot of it going around
I lost my sense of taste and smell about 25 years ago.
Had investigations but nothing came up as to why. I just live with it and live on memories of food I loved.
I've had a constant, off/ on virus/upper respiratory bug for weeks. At its worst about 6 weeks ago, my taste and smell were gone...still can't smell much. Everything tasted off...even chocolate tasted bad. I had no appetite as a result. Took a good few weeks to get back to something normal.

Some awful stories here but it seems to be happening a lot.
I have had this problem for a few weeks. I haven't got round to seeing an ENT , but, hesitantly I think it's improving. I haven't had any colds or viruses.
