The Chase today. He had £4000, they all urged him to take it. He took £400.
She took minus £1000.
I can't stand these losers.
Neither answered in the final chase leaving it to the first person who earned £6000
They lost in the end for which I'm glad.

I missed today's episode, I like most have a good sense of general knowledge (football and music ;-) but dislike those that take the lower offer... but a minus grrr.
I felt sorry for the guy who won the 6,000 in the first part, and the other with the flashy coat, was a prick.
It seems the programme makers know what they are doing by having this in the game rules, like a pantomime they get the viewers booing the baddies and cheering he goodies.
Absolute *** those two who took the low offer and stood there like dummys in the final round
I haven't seen that episode yet, but I agree. I always hope that people who take the low, and especially a minus offer, don't get to the final round. Shameless, lazy and greedy.
Seen that idiot attention seeker on something else but I can't remember what.
Every now and then it pays off.

Someone takes a minus offer, and that single point of the extra person in the final chase wins them the game.
A few episodes ago, a Scottish guy who was up first and banked a few thousand
didn't hold back and made his feelings known to the other players who went low or minus " I came here to win money" where some of his comments. And he didn't let the others forget it for the rest of the show.
well 2 out of 3 were thick as pigs ***! 1 bloke answered all the questions in the final chase. I would modify this game so that you only take home what you put in if you win the final chase.
That's a good idea, TTT.
At least some of the entertainment from shows like this one presumably stems from the ability to sneer at transparently greedy people, while saying loudly "I'd never do anything like that!"
One of the questions the bloke with the cartoon jacket had was, "what is cryophobia a fear of?" One of the answers was "crying" so he went for that "obvious" really! PMSL!
Yes I agree that for the majority of the time it is wrong when someone takes the lowest offer, especially if they have spent all their time encouraging the rest of the contestants to take the highest offer.
But there are times when I agree that they should take a lower offer, for instance if it is not much lower than what they scored, it makes sense to go low and get a better chance of getting through. In this latest show, it was very annoying to see those two take the low offers and then just stand there and let the first guy answer the questions, it was not very fair, but we all have seen the low offer takers get through and then answer their fair share of questions in the final round, I think they do redeem themselves to some point when they do that!
He was an 'entertainer'!! Mustn't know the meaning of the word.
Agree, I did feel sorry for the first man he was good and was left with three useless ones, the entertainer was awful,Bradley always says lets get you such an amount eg £6000 you could do a lot with that! but the total is divided between them, agree with TTT only take home what you put in the pot and there would be less going for minus and low offers. Good show though gives us all something to comment about.
I wonder if that (playing for only your contribution) would reduce the "teamplay" aspect of it. I would like to see the end of minus offers, though.
I think it's fair that they share the prize fund... but as stated on the show, they don't know each other...etc. however If I were to go on such a show I'd hope that my team mates had a higher IQ than that of a grape.

I like TTT's idea @ 10:34, but does that mean if someone went for the minus offer, then got into the final chase and the team won, that person would go away owing The Chase that minus amount they went through with?
I think Balders/jim it would need refinement, I think negative amounts would not be possible so they'd have to alter the offers process but the very fact that they can only take home what they earn means that the whole process of selecting what to play for would change. So the lower offer can be as low as 0 but they'd be forced up as it were or it would not be worth doing so I think we'd see more going for the higher amounts.
If I was that bloke and the other team members did that to me I would have been really tempted to buzz for every question and then say 'pass'!
