Yes it is a natural function, but there are also many other natural functions that we possess but still don't find the need to display them openly in public.

It isn't the right of the restaurant to say 'no' - it's illegal under the Equality Act 2010.

On ITV news now. Bad publicity is better than none. She is milking it ;)
I find people who chew with their mouth open "offensive", would it be OK for a waiter to throw a napkin over them?

How is the Equality Act relevant?
I hope so, 2sp_.
It'd make eating out a lot easier on my blood-pressure if they could....:o)
If you go to any public park or building site on a summer's day, you will get more than an eye-full of moobs on display.

Not really sure why that's OK but a woman feeding her baby has some up in arms??
Ganesh:

"The Equality Act 2010 has specifically clarified that it is unlawful for a business to discriminate against a woman because she is breastfeeding a child"

True-and builders bum!
Didn't know that, hc, that's interesting. Still, they weren't stopping her from doing it they were just asking her to cover herself, which is like asking a guy to wear trousers, not shorts, I guess.
One never bats an eye lid when you see half naked people on a beach - it would be different though , if you saw a half naked person walking down the street
But this woman is not half naked, nor is she flashing or parading her breasts! She is feeding her baby.

We still live in a country where it is acceptable to print topless women in some of our newspapers...
Well I DO find the page 3 thing ridiculous. I remember teenage son seeing that it a coffee shop once and saying, omg I thought it was a newspaper, not a porno mag!
Maybe in these days of so-called equality we should have guys tackle on page 5!!
// I ought to get a booth on the end of the pier........LoL//

A boob booth ?

Seriously my opinion of ANYone complaining about a mother breastfeeding THEY should be asked to leave if they don't like it.
Nobody asked her to leave, they just gave her a napkin to help her cover up even though she didn't want to-lol
2sp_ - my point was how it's strange that some people find the sight of boobs offensive in some situations but not in others
Well yeah, but there IS a time and a place for a lot of things, it aint appropriate doing your shopping in a thong bikini is it, and some things we regard as private, not public. We do impose our our own social standards and rules on ourselves but everyone does that, and we make a code of conduct. The trouble is agreeing on that code.
