I saw this again at the weekeend. Great film but does any know how accurate it is?

Attached is the official report of the incident.  With so many people involved, I find it difficult to believe that any attempt to withold facts concerning this accident to be credible.  Additionally, considering governments such as North Korea, Iran, etc., I don't think the U.S. government is any more secretive than any other, even the British government.  A certain amount of secrecy is absolutely essential, don't you agree?

Well - the film is based on Jim Lovell's book, and he acted as technical adviser to the film... so I guess in that sense, it's pretty much accurate.

I shouldn't have thought that too much of it would have been censored, 30 years later...

I have spoken to a senior person involved. Apparently it is basically correct with some exagerations. One of the differences is that the famous part of redirecting the craft with enormous vibrations and stresses was in fact almost unnoticeable to the crew i.e. no vibration etc.

But a great film

Sorry to interrupt the thread proper, but I had to point out that all governments' secrecy is usually to keep facts from its own people.  Everyone else seems to know seems to know everything.
