All these people on telly this morning saying how they feel sorry for Cheryl Cole at losing her job on the US version of The X Factor.... I always struggle to feel sorry for multi-millionaires. But especially Cheryl who I'm sure would still be a total nobody were it not for her beautiful face. She's an average singer and dancer at best, and is incredibly gobby and opinionated, always dominating Girls Aloud interviews even though she's not lead singer. And I can never forget the incident at the nightclub in Guildford. Maybe karma for that, and her very obvious limited talents, have finally caught up with her. Can anyone explain why British people have ever taken Cheryl to their hearts (aside from that face), or is that just media hype? I also wonder if Americans have rejected her cos her accent reminds them of Heather Mills!

I agree with you flipnflap. I find it somewhat alarming that it should be so prominent in the news. I don't like the 'celebrity' adulation that seems to have swept the country over the last decade. I have no idea why she is so popular here and I'm not shedding any tears about her departure from X Factor.
Why do some people begrudge a beautiful womans success?

Could it be envy?
I don't like her at all. I object to her being called Britain's Sweetheart too, I don't know anyone who likes her.
I like her daffy. Although I do find it difficult to actually feel sorry for this beautiful multi-millionairess.....!
I meant in my circle of family and friends salla. I know quite a few people on AB like her as when there have been threads about her before it has become a ittle argumentative between the posters. lol

I do think she is very pretty, I just cannot warm to her at all.
its a bizarre world we live in now, a pretty face will gain you more wealth than a degree.
by the way flip - I like your heading. Very similar to a Rolling Stones' hit is it not?!
Having a degree doesn't guarantee a well paid job cazzzz, neither does a pretty face. Both depend on bloody hard work, savvy and sometimes pure luck. Cheryl's been extremely fortunate to have got where she is with what she's got by whatever means she's had at her disposal and good luck to her!

It always seems churlish when others try to drag her down because of it, not saying you are, but others are clearly doing just that.
If only the gorgeous creature could take a step back, a deep breath and realise how little the value of her chosen path is I'm sure she'd feel better almost right away.
Convincing pikeys and schemies to empty their PAYG phones to vote for dross on a freak show can't be life affirming.
Can it?
I save my sympathy for those who are dealt a bad hand.
I'm sure her bank account makes up for that douglas :-)
lol I dont think having a pretty face is hard work, I think it opens more doors for you, its a lot easier than doing a thesis.. ;)
i beg to differ cazzzz.

Thousands of girls with pretty faces want ot make it big, only those who are prepared to work at it succeed.
A pretty face can open a few doors - but you need a bit more than just that to make it big. A personality helps, as does brains. A pretty face alone doesn't last long term.
I would say she's worked bloody hard to get where she is.
"its a bizarre world we live in now, a pretty face will gain you more wealth than a degree"

lucky for me i have both
I disagree, I think the thousands probably do work very hard, I think its more down to luck.

I think cheryl was very fortunate, she went to an audition like a load of other young girls, she was chosen because the judges like her more than some of the other girls, it was that simple.
is this sympathy and fawning not a mere extension of the same that was syrupped out during her split from ashley ?

its like kerri katona, they need to keep in the headlines to make money, so tragedy and sadness follow them around like flies around broccoli, so that millions 'identify' with their feigned plight.

(that aint meant to be poetically rhyming, buts it worked clever dint it)
ok, broccoli don't rhyme with plight. i resign.
linking yourself with another celebrity is also good, who knows how famous victoria beckham would have been without david?
