in the course of work i was doing, i met Terry Pratchett, always loved his books.
Lots and lots.....one of the nicest, Pierce Brosnan and his wife, also Sean Connery.

One of the most defensive, Robin Williams, the funniest (and I do not like his acting), Steve Martin. And Billy Connolly (travelled next to him on the London-Glasgow BA Shuttle....).

The most arrogant, Eartha Kitt and Princess Margaret wasn't far behind.....
One evening, years ago, I shared a taxi with Timmy Mallett !
Beat that, everyone !
Constantly: some occasions positive, some not so positive. My background is with a Long-Haul airline. It's a standard practice, especially when unable to provide an empty seat to certain WKRP's or CIP's, a staff member to serve as a buffer and to provide a modicum of privacy/protection for the passenger.

I can't even begin to imagine how I'd rate the people I've travelled beside -whether from top to bottom or bottom to top, but I have in my mind some of my most positive memorable experiences and several of my least.

Some of my most positive have been beside

Jodie Foster SYD-BKK-LHR

Julie Andrews ORD-LHR

Robert Schuller LAXLHR

Ivana Trump LHR-BUD

Clive Cussler DEN-LGW

Florence Henderson LHR-LAX

Susan Dey SFO-LAX

There have been others, the rest having either less than what I would call positive memorable experiences and a few even less than that!

Hugh Grant and E. Hurley LHR-DUB - I was across from them on the aisle at a difficult time in their relationship.

Robin Williams LHR-JFK (It wasn't bad...just kinetic!!!)

Jermaine Jackson MIA-LAX (it was a sad time in his life)

Emily Lloyd STL-LGW (we wrote each other a few times)

Frank Borman LHR-DFW (He snores!)

and there are a few more, but I'd rather not even remember them!! I promise! Some people are so full of themselves they lose track that they're interacting with other humans. A sad thing to see wherever we are in life!

And although I wasn't on an aircraft with him, I had the honour of sitting with Hume Cronyn in a side - room inside the First Class lounge at BOS. His beloved wife had just passed away. He was a lovely lovely man!

As a child I met many 'famous' people, some of them I can still speak of with reverence to this day and I met my number of nut cases as well. My top favourite was Danny Kaye who lived in a hotel somewhat across from our hotel. We lived in a Manhattan Hotel for just under 18 months and Mr Kaye and my father struck up a wonderful friendship. We'd often have breakfast together and I have to this day a small card he drew a character on for me.

In later years I was in a lift at the same hotel with June Carter and Johnny Cash. Ms Carter asked me where we were going for dinner. I told her and she turned to Mr Cash to say that sounded lovely and perhaps they should go there instead' We never saw them, but I know they were going to a short function before.

Lastly, my earliest memory of being around someone famous...I had just forgotten about this but the thought of the restaurant reminded me, was with Jacqueline Onassis. She was mesmerisingly beautiful and sweet. I had 'seen' her before, but never spoke directly with her when I received an invitation to a birthday party for John John. I didn't know him at all so it had something to do with my father. He only remembers the invite but can't remember how it came about - or so he says. .I have a number of framed American Money with short salutations on them to my father, then signed by the person whose signature appears on the note. Other than what it says on the note, I couldn't tell you a thing about any of them.

and lastly, during my Manhattan times, I attended some extremely sedate but sweet Soirées I doubt anyone would know - Betsy Palmer, Fannie Flagg, and Kitty Carlisle. I'm sure they have all passed by now, I was always referred to as 'the baby' among the group and indeed I was, but they were all lovely.

Had some nice lunches and dinners with some fascinating people as well - all in Manhattan...but it was all because we lived around the same area.

The worst of the worst encounter of my life was with the infamous 'Queen of Mean.' Will remember her to my grave!
John McVicar (most wanted criminal) after release babysitting at a friend's house !!
Hi Em, I too have met Marcus, he is a lovely bloke. I spoke to him too.

Aside from people coming into my job, I have met David Beckham and I must say Victoria is welcomed to him!!!
ruth thingy from hi di hi she was rude
oh an d apparently i met a villa footballer wbut i didn;t know who he was so i don;t think it counts
Many moons ago I met Rob Grant (co-creator and former writer of Red Dwarf) at a book signing of 'Backwards' a very polite and intelligent fella. and a book so cleverly written you have to stop and think about it as time is running backwards.

no-one can beat "I shared a taxi with Timmy Mallett !"

how jammy is that!
I have stood near Lloyd Grossman, and near that very small, very orange wrinkly woman who did travel shows in the 1980s. Gloria Hunniford? I dunno.
And I stood near Amanda barrie (Alma from Corrie) in Lewis's Haberdashery department in the 1990s.
And I once saw Rowan Atkinson cross the road near st paul's in London.
And some cricket presenters were at breakfast in our hotel last June but I don't know their names.
Coo, I don't half mingle.
Oh yes, Janet Jackson at Heathrow surrounded by minders (not a lot, and kept a low profile, she seemed OK) also in the 60s in London, I saw Julie Christie with Warren Beatty, the front singer from The Hollies, the Beatles outside Wembley TV Studios, and Cilla Black and Sandie Shaw in Bond Street.
i met peter andre , mmm so fit
Cliff Michelmore at an air show
Joe Bugner on a plane
Sir David Frost at my school
ive met peter andre , so sexy
Saw Louise Redknapp with Jamie in a restaurant, she was the sweetest unaffected 'star' I have ever met.
my brother was told to F off by Lizo Mazimba off Childrens BBC
One of my facebook friends who lives in Manchester, and who is also on here but would rather keep the two separate so I won't name them, sees celebs on a fairly regular basis. That said, Manchester is the place to be for them nowadays.
Quite a lot as I have been lucky enough to work in entertainment business on and off for 30 odd years. The latest I met were Phil Jupitus and Noel Fielding on Never Mind the Buzzcocks,John Barrowman was hosting that particular show. Simon Mayo at radio 2,Rolf Harris at a dinner. Katie Melua at a lunch, and all the Loose Women last Dec 23rd. Years ago my idol David Essex! Mud, ABBA, Showaddywaddy. The only famous person I couldnt stand is Vanessa Feltz, a VERY rude ill mannered person. Oooer, sorry but this sounds very name droppy doesnt it.haha
