hello all. Can you recommend a UK house insurance company. We will be renters, both professionals, with about 50 grands worth of goods for the potential taking. Also, is house insurance legally required by landlords? It is here in France where we are currently living, but don't think so in the UK.Thanks!

I presume you mean contents insurance, in which case the usual major insurers all offer good deals which you can check out on the internet. eg Royal (aka More Than) or Norwich Union. There is no legal requirement for tenants to have thier own insurance, although it would be possible for a landlord to put a term to that effect in the tenancy agreement. It will be for the landlord to insure the building itself.
Just sorted house insurance myself - endsleigh are really good value without a massive excess too!  They were v helpful - would highly recommend them.
