A lady parked in a disabled parking spot. She had not disabled badge. I approached and told her that she was taking up a space that would be needed for someone with a disability. In a foreign voice she replied and said she would only be a few minutes.

I took photos. Who shall I send them to? Police? Lidl Head Office? Local Council?

The total disregard of this lady was amazing, she did not give a crap!

Ethel: You are right. I economised due to my often laboriously languid epistles. The police (at least in this area) work closely with the privately managed group who are paid by (I gather) Tesco, Boots, and the other two merchants. There had been a spate of problems over the past year and in a joint effort (as described in the paper), there were severe penalties being issued. Having never received one, I dont know what it is the offender receives, but Ive certainly seen the police writing out details. And the paper has mentioned a 75 charge. Some of the offending cars, when we were there, have had clamps placed. So it may be in relation to that. It continues to be a problem, not only in our community, but in others as well. For poor Laura (my friend), she has said it is often the most excitement she gets to have now in her life.

Corby: The disabled spaces allow us to back to an extended pavement where I can lower the wheel ramps from the back of the van. This cant be achieved in other parking spaces, without taking up two parking spaces, where (at least in our car park) the spaces are two-deep. Pulling the van up behind the offending parker requires that I lower the wheel ramps directly into the (potential flow of traffic). I wish I could attach a photo here as it would make much more sense failing my poor ability to describe the parking area.

Part 2
Continued:

Continuing on this theme: I just took someone with MS on the first and only trip they will ever have in their life. I found it appalling that the travel agent I had used (I wouldnt have except for the fact they had a bulk contract for some space we wanted), had no ability for the wheelchair user to enter the agency, nor did the travel agent ever once go out to either apologise for her companys failings, or at the very least introduce herself. It is deeply saddening to see how marginalised people with disabilities are in our country. And whilst weve made some minimal strides, we fall far behind other countries.

kujawski, seriously, go back to school and learn the how to spell and how to construct a proper sentence. This question is way above you and the remit of your pea sized brain, your comments and stupid posts are just a waste of time, say what you like its just childish mate. You must be sooooo hard, typing scary stuff like that!

member of your family is disabled??...yeah whatever! More like they are sponging off the government and have a disabled badge pretending to be disabled so they can park that extra few meters closer to the kebab shop on a friday night...that I WOULD BELIEVE! If they really were disabled then you would know that my post is actually a major problem in this country where selfish mindless idiots, a bit like yourself, just do not give a crap about anyone else. It has been covered in the news and programes a few times.

I work for a company that look after people with physical disabilities, non-disbaled people taking up the few disabled spots in a car park is a constant battle. They are there for a reason, so they have less distance to travel to the store.

I DID approach the woman (try actually reading my post), she DID know it was a disabled spot (again, try reading before typing). The fact that she said "i know, but I will only be a few minutes" just shows that she has done this before.

I suggest you apply for a disabled badge, seems you have a slight disability of the brain matey.

To everyone else, thanks for your posts. Looks like there is not much one can do. Again this country letting people get away with things.
sorry spaced but "this country" let that woman get away with it. What does that mean actually? You want gordon himself to come and tell her off?
what is your proposed solution?
OMG what a palaver over a car space for goodness sake

Well what a lot of fuss!! All I can say is how envious I am of all of you lucky people who have never needed to park for five minutes when only a disabled space was available. I am also puzzled by those who could consider criminal damage to somebody's car with a scratch from a key, to be of a lesser order of magnitude than causing brief trmporary inconvenience to another person? Although I agree that the parker was in the wrong.
We'll be hanging people with piano wire next for having to take an emergency pee in a quiet corner . Not nice but it happens to people - so what??
(the pee not the wire!!)

Why was it necessary to record that the woman had a foreign accent ? Does that somehow make it worse? Or does it actually offer mitigation?? Isn't this really all about keeping matters within reasonable bounds?? Especially our own self-righteousness. Sleep softly.
Calm down Spaced, dont get your knickers in a twist mate,

getting yourself a bit excited aint you?
BTW read your first Paragraph, its grammatically perfect.

You make me laugh
let me guess it was your attempt as sarcasm

drivers are gettin way too teritorial, life is too short, what a way to give yourself even more stress in a day
GET OVER IT

What would you have done if you had seen her making her escape shortly before a cspo or similar could get to them, Spaced ?

Despite the fact that she is well aware that a penalty will probably apply ?

If she can get away with it, should she be allowed ?
Hi spaced, I was the principal carer for a disabled family member and know how annoying it is. However...........the space on Lidl's car park is their's. The car park is their's and so it should be up to them to sort it out, it ishouldn't be up to members of the public to try and police it.

In future, I would suggest that if it ever happens again, report it to a member of Lidl's staff and then let them deal with it.
Originally I had a bit of sympathy for your post Spaced, but having read some of your other posts like :

"it looks like you lot should just do you effing job. Dont like it? Get a job you do want"

It seems you show the same disregard to other people like this woman did to you. Maybe just like your other post regarding postmen.. you simply got your facts wrong.
I concur!
and i rest my case
My friend who has M.S. got hold of some excellent stickers to put on the windscreens of people who park with no consideration to others. They read 'you have my parking space, would you like my disability?'. The stickers are of a size that occupies most of the windscreen, and take some time to get off whilst not causing any criminal damage.
cambellking - excellent idea, but unfortunately does leave your friend open to private prosecution, which is very cheap to do these days.
