Maternity rights?

How long do you have to be with your current employer to be entitled to 'full' maternity rights, ie. SMP, right to return etc?

basicly you have to have worked with them for a week before the date of conception.

So being there full time, for 4 months means you can tell your employer you're a few weeks pregnant without them getting arsey?

yep...they cant get arsey anyway. Even if they are a small business, everything they pay out gets given back to them by inland revenue. If they start to make you feel uncomfortable because of your pregnancy then seek advice again.

All the SMP gets paid back by the Government in a small company (not all in a larger company) but they can't recoup the cost of recruiting new staff to cover during the maternity period or antenatal classes etc.

But, no, they can't get 'arsey' with you.
