....an affront to justice! I hope every one of the victims get every penny in compensation for what they have suffered. I'd like to see some of the PO board prosecuted too, surely there is a case for perverting the course of justice. That evil woman, Vennalls is a vicar FGS! So much for christian ideals, unbelieveable. Alan Bates should get a knighthood.

Absolutely wonderful TV production, superb acting, stunning, 10/10.

Please don't post me other links about this I know they are there, this is my post, don't join in if you just want to snipe at me.

Mr Bates is a man of honour and integrity which is more that can be said for that pious ,god-fearing hypocritical lying female dog who kept her CBE. She should also be defrocked and given a fast track to hell.

Agreed. Someone needs to be held accountable as well as the victims being fully compensated.

Totally agree, I hope Paula Vennel is force fed watching this

If I could boycott the PO I would!!! Rotten thieving sods!!!

Really well done - I think Vennells (and all the others who have never been brought to account) will be carping herself as the day she has to face the enquiry this year gets closer.  Her ridiculous CBE should be removed.

It just beggars belief what happenned. If we didn't know it was true it would sound like an exagerated fiction but it's so fantastical that you could not make that up.

agree with all that. Probably the greatest scandal of my time in Britain (other candidates: Grenfell, Windrush, Hillsborough  - all tragic but made so much worse by official action and inaction).

Superb! Amazing acting.   Toby Jones is one of my favourite favouite actors.

I'm just watching "the real story" which is on after. Jo Hamilton's village basically had a wip round to help her pay £36k ( she could only get £30k) - She was worried they'd all think she was a thief. Quite the opposite, they new she was not. How wonderful a person must she be to command that love from her Village. I hope those B'stards in the PO are ashamed of themselves.

We are now watching it too.

This has had me glued to it all week.  Excellent television.  More like this please.

Loved the way all the envelopes containing money from the villagers were plopping through Jo's letterbox and the message it sent to her.  And Yes, Toby, not surprisingly, just brilliant.

Interesting that at the end of the folow-up documentary in a caption it said that Alan Bates has refused an OBE while Vennells still has her CBE.  Good on that man!

Mr Bates is a man of honour and integrity which is more that can be said for that pious ,god-fearing hypocritical lying female dog who kept her CBE. She should also be defrocked and given a fast track to hell.

I thought the casting was excellent.

Another injustice first exposed by Private Eye, that much-maligned publication.

Interesting statistic in this week's issue :-

£600,000 = blanket compensation offer made to each wrongfully convicted postmaster.

£573,000 = 2022/2023 pay for Post Office chief executive Nick Read

Canary don't turn this into one of your political cherry picking expeditions.

retro: "She should also be defrocked and given a fast track to hell." - If we believe people like her, the "Big man" sees everything. I don't think he's too bothered about the dog collar, her place in hell is assured.

Oh dear, and right after an ex polis commented on corruption with no sense of irony whatsoever.

Interesting that folk believe in Hell. There are plenty on this planet that could claim they think they are already there.

OG, have a day off, I don't believe all that pony just playing along with the analogy.

Alan Bates was the PO manager in one of our local offices in Llandudno, as you who have watched will already know. He was a puntilius man who, although mild mannered, would become pugnacious if he felt wronged. The wicked PO board and admin wonks found that out after trying to stifle his requests for technical clarity. The PO that he ran is now sadly closed (Strange how many of the affected post offices have been closed down. Was that the aim all along) but for the filming the set people did a brilliant job of restoring the shop to its previous incarnation right down to having the knitting section of the shop reinstalled just as it was. It caused quite a stir up here when the filming was being done and you would be surprised at just how much kit and plant they haul around to get just a few minutes footage. We had roads closed and pedestrian access restricted sometimes but we are getting used to it now as the area is being used more and more for films and tv series locations. Sadly it does bring in more and more visitors which causes overcrowding and travel problems.
Rather than address Bates's requests for clarity and to provide answers to his technical queries the PO chose to terminate his tenure and shift him out. Wrong move. The venal Venals must be brought to book and have the honour that she besmirches removed.
