My Arris'.
About to be put on Universal credit (after working part time)
What a con! Should just about afford my rent and (possibly) my council tax but will have nothing left to live on.
Working for the FoodBank but will have to trust to it to feed me. And the bills can go out of the window. Hav'nt got anything left. nothing for internet, gas, electric, water, phone, etc.

Before anyone condemms me, Please tell me how I am supposed to make a living!
I want to work (obviously) but am getting penalised for doing so.
(but I would like to eat food as well and pay my bills such as having a roof over my head)

Nails, get a T-towel put it on you head and say you’ve ten kids. Flippancy aside. I feel-for you nailit, you struggle to improve your lot and you get hamstringed by carpy system. What’s a guy to do, steal? Sell drugs?
Become a politician? Perhaps not, that’s All sewn up by the trough dwellers. The obvious answer is back to the benefit suppression. How dare you try to improve yourself.
What benefits were on before, nailit?

DS, I give up!
I know nothing about UC but in the olden days you would just declare what you earned a the Jobcentre and they would pay you the balance due a d authorise your HB.

Surely a similar system is now used.

Any of the Tories on here care to post?
Bit of advice maybe?
Bit of an explanation as to why people that are trying to make a living are shafted?
Question Author
Is this the *Nailit* thread?
Any Tory care to contribute?
Your U/C amount would be £317 per month + rent + 37p for every £1 you earn; (DWP will take 63p of it). You must apply to your local Council for a council tax reduction.
From what I can see you might still be able to get ESA as well as UC.

I don’t know my way around the benefit system nowadays though.
Nailit, I'm no expert and I hate to see anyone in your position. You might want to try the link, if you haven't already.

ive spent the entire afternoon going over every website going, and entering every detail that I have.
And every conclusion is that Ive been shafted by taking on part time work.

UC is a government con like no other.
I want to work but will have to starve to do it.

BTW Ummm, good to see you back ;-) xx
Nailit, I thought that you had sorted out your potential finances before you accepted the job. Have things suddenly changed?
Your OP says you can *just about afford my rent*, it will be paid for you, it is a similar scenario with the Council Tax.

I'm not sure quite what your other points are.
I thought the stated idea of UC was to aid people just like you back into work. 'You'll never be worse off working' or somesuch.
You've had that job for a while now, why has the financial situation only now come to light?
I suspect there's more to this than you're telling us.
