How well I recall the day a kindly soul in a lifeboat pulled me from the briny sea.
Imagine my relief as he answered 'no' to my question 'Do you have any crockery featuring naked women?'
Indeed he went further, voicing his disquiet at the term 'Mae west', addressing the blatant objectification and denigration of the female form in relation to buoyancy aids.
I thought to myself 'How refreshing in these times of uncaring, casual sexism that this bloke took time out from saving lives to worry about the REALLY important stuff.'
So do I Derek. The clue to why this has happened is here.

//It is believed a senior female colleague found the mugs at their HQ in Whitby, North Yorkshire and then reported them.//

" ‘The lifeboat station should be an environment where people can expect to be treated with dignity and respect"
A pity the institution don't extend this to the lifeboatmen.
This link shows the "highly offensive" mug.
There is only one highly offensive "mug" in this incident.

we are probably only getting one side of the story but I despair too when I read of this stuff. **** the pranny state.
I just hope there is a way to appeal and get this imbecile's ruling overturned.
I know the Lifeboat station there (or used to) it gets loads of visitors and I certainly don't think its a good reflection on the RNLI for such mugs to be where visitors, especially children, can see them. I agree we don't know all the story but sacking seems a touch OTT if it was just a matter of the mugs...surely some fairly brutal feedback on where these two keep their brains and instructions to remove the mugs forthwith would have been enough.

If you look at the mug, it hardly qualifies as nudity.
However, they were then told they would have to go through a disciplinary hearing which involved looking through their WhatsApp messages

That's the bit that is worrying
The mug in Togo's link doesn't appear to me to be of a naked woman......it's one of the chaps faces on the body of a woman wearing big knickers and covering her breasts with her arms......I think....but I have poor eyesight so maybe someone can tell me if what I'm seeing is so or a result of my wonky eyes please.....

There are more naked bits on show on a hot day in Whitby.

I've had to read this more than once in case I'm missing something....x
This is a prime example of the worst kind of equality and PC rubbish that has gone to some women's heads. It doesn't surprise me, in my company not long ago 2 senior managers (ex army too) were torn off a huge strip in front of their staff by a more senior female for using the word 'ladies'. We've brought it on ourselves helped by the fluffy pinky men who've supported it.

Thanks, Spath....exactly what I see.....a bit of fun between mates....and considering what these volunteers do a bit of fun will often be needed.....
I agree with Prudie though I hope I haven't contributed to this weird place chaps are finding themselves in.....honestly.....I keep having to look at the mug and I think..... well I don't know what.....I'm lost for words....there just has to be more to this surely....

The petition in Whitby has been taken down I think so I'm emailing the RNLI....
Oh heck.....the RNLI complaints coordinator is female......that should make no difference......but..... :-(
On the face of it this is utter nonsense - but as usual the muppets involved in the heavy-handed approach are hinting at 'other issues' - it's standard practice by the PC wimmin's mob when they are challenged over this sort of ***.

I suspect they are now desperately scurrying around trying to find anything at all that will cover the *** of the desk-sailors who let this get out of hand.

Personally, I hope the 'senior female staff member' is named and shamed fairly promptly - I'd like to know how many rescue shouts she's been on ...
